Get Ready to Feel the GoodVybes

by Nanie de Castro
October 2015

The feeling of reckless abandon, as you lose yourself to the riffs and rhythms of your favorite song, brought to life by the band you're watching live for the very first time—it's distinct, exhilarating, and unparalleled, and for most, can only be experienced after flying a thousand miles out of the country. But that's about to change. Very soon, the same feeling will hit much closer to home, as Manila plays stage to a whole new music festival: GoodVybes.

Setting itself apart from all the other music fests in the country, GoodVybes is poised to be THE alternative music festival, and will be housing great international and homegrown alternative, indie, and sub mainstream acts. As of writing, their official social media sites have released their initial lineup: Busy P, Darius, and MYD, French DJs (and producers on the side) who are already making waves in the international scene.

Busy P, or Pedro Winter to most, is household name in the French club scene; aside from producing great hits of his own, he also regularly works with equally talented acts, such as Daft Punk, Cassius, Justice, and Phoenix, just to name a few. MYD, who also has the titles sound engineer and producer attached to his name, has racked up credits on tracks for Kanye West, Theophilus London, and Leon Ware. Darius, known for his chill house mixes, has consistently been dropping hit after hit, and going on show after show in and around Europe. All three are set to drop sick beats on the GoodVybes DJ Stage on February 20, 2016 at the Aseana Avenue Open Grounds, along with 13 other acts to be announced soon.

GoodVybes may be on its very first run, but Vybe Productions, the group behind the music festival, is no newbie when it comes to bringing in great music. Since 2014, they have been consistently producing a number of notable shows, such as Disclosure, cut/copy, Chvrches, Charlie XCX, Justice, and most recently, the Gorillaz Sound System.

The complete lineup is yet to be released, but with what's been shared, it looks like all indie music lovers and festiphiles alike will not be disappointed. So get ready to feel the good vibes—no need to fly.

Did this article whet your appetite for great music? Fret not; Charlie XCX, Chvrches, Daft Punk, Disclosure, Kanye West, and Phoenix are all available via Satchmi. Huzzah! For event, line-‐up, and ticket updates, check out GoodVybes on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
