Albums We’re Excited For, Part 4—My Bloody Valentine, Ariana Grande, The Cure, American Pleasure Club, The Cranberries

To cap off the month, we bring you five more acts with albums we can’t wait for.

My Bloody Valentine (TBA)

While it’s still unclear what the exact form will be, MBV mastermind Kevin Shields has revealed plans to release new material this 2019. The gaps between the shoegaze band’s releases have always been quite the wait, but every new drop from them is consistently the stuff of legends.

Ariana Grande – thank u, next (February 8, 2019)

The R&B musician is on a roll. Less than a year since releasing her fourth studio album, Sweetener, Grande is set to return with another surefire hit record, entitled thank u, next. Just when we thought she was going on hiatus, she surprises us by transforming all that heartbreak into amazing works of art.

The Cure (TBA)

Our favorite gloomy band is celebrating their debut’s 40th anniversary this year. Frontperson Robert Smith has stated if they don’t have new material out by this year, then they’re done. Obviously, they won’t be, as they’ve revealed the new record is finally almost finished! As for what to expect, we can’t tell, given the band’s history of surprising us with varying conceptual gems.

American Pleasure Club – fucking bliss (March 29, 2019)

There seems to be a lot of suppressed rage in here. The first single “what kind of love?” is extremely dark, both lyrically and instrumentally—it tells of a love falling apart in one of the worst ways imaginable. The album art seems to support this darkness, too; add to that the sarcasm of the album’s title, and we get what just might be the most broken American Pleasure Club record ever.

The Cranberries – In the End (April 26, 2019)

Following frontperson Dolores O’Riordan’s passing, the remaining band members have decided to finish what they started. This release will also serve as a tribute to the late singer, as they’ve revealed she was highly invested in the upcoming body of work. Set to be the band’s eighth and final full-length, this will be a fitting goodbye.
