The Spindle Jam: Featured Brand New Records – February 28, 2020

This month, we gathered more recommended sealed records, some you may know, others you may not. Read through and listen through those you haven’t heard. Who knows, you might discover something new.

Definitely, all these will sound better on wax—if something catches your fancy, you can always get them from our store. Happy hunting!

Beach House – Bloom

A cohesive dreamy listen for fans of all things indie pop. Widely considered as their greatest release, Beach House’s Bloom is lovingly split into two records, both spun at 45 RPM for maximum listening pleasure. This album is a grower, but once it sticks, there’s no turning back.

Motorama – Many Nights

This Russian post-punk band needs more love. They’ve been able to perform in Manila once, but even that wasn’t given much attention. A pity, if you ask us.

Motorama’s latest record, Many Nights, is reminiscent of the Cure’s poppier era—think The Head on the Door. This record is a fun listen and is perfect for complementing your dark heart.

Galaxie 500 – Today

There’s a lot to be said about Galaxie 500’s 1988 debut, and a lot of that is best expressed in sound. Simply put, Today is a daring shoegaze album that’s gone on to influence lots of later bands. This one’s for fans of My Bloody Valentine, Pia Fraus, and Secret Shine.

Hatchie – Keepsake

Don’t sleep on Hatchie! After a stunning ’80s influenced EP, this musician has continued to prove versatility with a progressive full-length indie pop record. Largely influenced by ’90s alternative rock production styles, Keepsake is an LP made for dreaming and falling in love.

blink-182 – Nine

This pop punk band’s latest offering is still as strong as ever. Our favorite is the latter half—that’s where a lot of the familiar, angst-driven blink-182 really shines through. Make no mistake, though, because the first half is also an incredibly catchy listen, filled with danceable anthems and relatable lyrics.
