Last February, we featured the first single, “I Wish,” taken from Filipino singer-songwriter Niki Colet’s then upcoming Endless Summer EP. Today, we’re delighted to announce the EP is finally available in full.

With a title inspired by Colet’s final summer after graduating college, Endless Summer boasts six lovely originals—The Sound, Big City, Could Be Love, Good Morning, Yes, and I Wish—inspired by feelings of freedom, confusion, romance, and existentialism. From the opening all the way to the last track, the musician exhibits her signature style of picturesque storytelling inspired by her love for film and literature.

Every song is its own story; in spite of that, they work together perfectly. “Big City” is a track about how Metro Manila, with all its hustle and bustle, can feel so stifling. “Yes” is a Bruce Springsteen-esque song about taking risks. “I Wish” is a song about growing old in love. As a whole, the music celebrates life, alone or with a lover, complete with every bit of tumultuous emotion. Whether you’re out with friends on a road trip or alone thinking about the unforeseeable future, these songs serve as a soundtrack for life’s most precious moments.

With hints of Joni Mitchell, Virginia Astley, and Michael Johnson, the EP is something Colet can be proud of—it’s a more fully produced work, intimately capturing the artist’s creative intent. Aside from the obvious influences, Colet also takes cues from the likes of Lorde and Carly Rae Jepsen. Outside her experiences, scenes from elsewhere and beyond play roles in her songs—being a diligent writer, her only limit is her imagination.

Well-produced and veering from standard folk-pop, Endless Summer is a sincere, enthralling look into a passionate mind filled with dreams, poetry, and depth. Complete with lush vocals and reverberating guitars, you can’t go wrong; put on those headphones and step outside—it’s time for an adventure.
